I am an Edinburgh-based creative technologist and artist working across generative systems, immersive installations and real-time digital environments. With over three decades of experience designing and building digital systems across web, multimedia and interactive contexts, my practice moves between cultural projects and commercial development.
I began working with digital and generative art in the early 1990s on the Commodore Amiga, later studying computer science and completing an MSc in Multimedia Technology. In the early 2000s I worked with universities and music technology companies during the emergence of online music distribution, contributing to early hardware, software and licensing standards while building web and multimedia systems.
In 2004 I founded Numeriq Ltd, through which I continue to design and build bespoke technical systems for clients ranging from technology companies to artists and arts organisations.
In parallel with my technical practice, I develop art projects through exhibitions, residencies and collaborative installations. Recent projects include my solo exhibition Bridging Worlds, technical and systems development for the immersive exhibition EXPOS3D, the data-driven installation SphaeroSymphony, and an invited residency in Naples focused on EEG-driven immersive environments, with presentation in Rome.
Rather than treating each piece as a standalone work, I develop evolving systems that are adapted and recontextualised across different exhibitions and environments. My interests include creative coding, embedded systems, computer vision, WebXR and real-time graphics.
I am interested in how computational systems move between physical, digital and participatory spaces.
