I am an Edinburgh-based creative technologist with over three decades of experience designing and building digital systems across web, multimedia, and interactive environments. My work spans commercial software development and cultural projects, applying the same technical skills in different contexts.
I began working with digital and generative art in the early 1990s on the Commodore Amiga, before studying computer science and completing an MSc in Multimedia Technology. In the early 2000s I worked with universities and music technology companies during the emergence of online music distribution, contributing to early hardware, software and licensing standards while also building websites and multimedia applications.
In 2004 I founded Numeriq Ltd, through which I continue to deliver bespoke technical work for clients ranging from technology companies to artists and arts organisations.
Alongside this, I develop art projects through exhibitions, residencies, workshops and collaborations. Recent work includes my solo exhibition Bridging Worlds, technical contributions to the immersive exhibition EXPOS3D, the data-driven installation SphaeroSymphony, and an artist residency in Naples and Rome focused on EEG-driven environments.
My interests include creative coding, embedded systems, computer vision, WebXR and real-time graphics. I tend to reuse and adapt working systems across projects, allowing them to evolve through use rather than treating each piece as a one-off.
