About

Edinburgh-based artist and creative technologist, David Oxley.

David Oxley is an Edinburgh-based artist and creative technologist working with generative systems, immersive installations and real-time digital environments. His practice explores how computational processes, data and interaction can produce evolving visual and spatial experiences.

Working across creative coding, embedded systems and real-time graphics, Oxley develops technical systems as an artistic methodology. Rather than producing static works, his projects often function as responsive environments that change through interaction, algorithmic processes or live data.

Recent projects include the solo exhibition Bridging Worlds, technical and systems development for the immersive exhibition EXPOS3D, the data-driven installation SphaeroSymphony, and an invited residency in Naples focused on EEG-driven generative environments.

Oxley began working with generative and digital art in the early 1990s on the Commodore Amiga before studying computer science and completing an MSc in Multimedia Technology. Alongside his artistic work he develops bespoke technical systems for artists and cultural projects through Numeriq Ltd, which he founded in 2004.

Across both technical and artistic practice, he is interested in how computational systems move between physical, digital and participatory spaces.
