The role of AI in creative industries is evolving rapidly, reshaping workflows, skillsets, and opportunities for artists, designers, and technologists. I was fortunate to contribute to this conversation by producing a video for Future-Proofing Creative Skills for Responsible AI Adoption, a workshop series organized by the University of Edinburgh and Adobe, in collaboration with the Edinburgh Futures Institute.
What Are These Workshops About?
This series of workshops is designed to explore and identify the new and future-proof skills that creatives need in the face of AI-driven changes in technology and practice. Each session brings together professionals at different career stages to discuss the evolving landscape, share insights, and collaboratively envision AI’s role in creative work. The workshops are structured as follows:
📅 Workshop Dates & Focus Areas
- March 26 – Freelancers
- April 2 – Students & Early Career Practitioners
- April 9 – In-house Professionals (Agency/Studio Teams)
- April 16 – Creative Managers & Leaders
⏰ Time: 13:00 – 17:15
📍 Venue: Edinburgh Futures Institute
Each session includes discussions with industry professionals, collaborative activities to imagine future scenarios, and conversations about today’s skill gaps. The contributions from participants will help shape future policies, training programs, and tools supporting creative professionals as AI adoption accelerates.
My Contribution
As part of this initiative, I created a short video showcasing my experiences integrating AI into my creative practice. AI has played a transformative role in my work, from generative art to interactive installations, and this was a great opportunity to share my perspective. I’m excited that my thoughts are part of a broader dialogue on AI’s impact on creative fields.

One of my artworks, Jessica, was selected to be used in promoting the event. It was felt that the piece effectively captured the idea of a creative navigating a strange and powerful machine – much like an artist working with AI.

I’ll be attending one of the sessions (TBC), as these workshops promise to be a valuable space for learning, discussion, and collaboration. I’m especially interested in hearing how other creatives are approaching AI and adapting their workflows to new technological possibilities.
Why This Matters
AI brings in a shift in how we create, design, and think about artistic expression. By engaging in conversations like these, we can help ensure that AI adoption in creative industries is responsible, ethical, and empowering. These workshops offer a unique opportunity to shape the future of creative work, and I’m thrilled to have played even a small role in this initiative.
