Dante's Pixel Inferno

October 1, 2024 by David Oxley

In a recent project, I had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with Trevor Jones, a renowned artist blending traditional and digital art forms. Together, we developed “Dante’s Pixel Inferno”, an exclusive CryptoAngels video game that brings his unique work to life in an interactive way.

The game came about after Trevor tweeted some pixel art angels in a GM tweet on February 17th, 2024. I responded with: “GM Trevor. If you fancy a retro-style arcade platform game with bitcoin angels, I’ve got the game engine for it, just give the word 😆” A month or so later, Trevor came back to me asking if I could create a game for him, which eventually became “Dante’s Pixel Inferno.”

You can even see the original tweet that started it all, embedded below:

The game, available at Trevor Jones Art Games, takes players on a journey through the Nine Circles of Fiat Hell, inspired by Dante’s Inferno and Trevor’s art. Each level was designed to reflect the themes and energy of his pieces, offering a fun and engaging gaming experience while introducing players to the broader themes present in Trevor’s work. Players can choose to play with or without signing in with their Ethereum wallet, with signed-in players eligible for high score tracking and rewards such as CryptoAngel whitelist spots and Bitcoin Angel print giveaways.

It was an honour to develop this game, blending my passion for creative technology and game design with Trevor’s inspiring vision. Whether you’re a fan of Trevor’s art or simply enjoy a unique gaming adventure, I invite you to explore “Dante’s Pixel Inferno” yourself.

Here are some supportive tweets from the community about the game:

Ode To a Haggis

My book, Ode To A Haggis, began as a fun project inspired by a series of AI-generated images. I started creating these pictures, imagining haggis as if they were real creatures roaming the Scottish Highlands. The images were a hit, and it wasn’t long before a friend asked if I could compile them into a book for her.
